Swift does Dragon's Den with Innotribe

Swift's new Innotribe section of the Sibos agenda has evolved into an interesting experiment in collaboration and potentially commercialisation.

Presentations at the opening sessions at the SibosLabs set the scene on a number of background topics. And group leaders then pitched to the audience to get involved in workshops over the course of Sibos to develop new ideas about how Cloud computing, Crowd development and Mash-ups can be applied to solve problems and generate new business in the financial services industry.

Small groups of vendors and bankers huddled around whiteboards to kick-off over a working lunch. Over the next few days they will complete their assignment to generate an idea and potential business model to pitch to the Buyers' Panel on Thursday, where pitches will be assessed and potentially funded.

The Buyers' Panel list of heavy-hitters includes

  • Lazaro Campos, CEO, Swift
  • Ignace Combes, Deputy CEO Euroclear and Swift board member
  • Paul Simpson MD and global head of treasury and trade solutions, Citi
  • Javier Santamaria, AGM, Banco Santander
  • Gottfried Leibbrandt, head of markets, Swift
  • Guy Kawasaki, founding partner, Garage Technology Ventures.

Adding further VC input will be representatives from Mc Kinsey, Venturebeat and Intel Capital.

Info on the workshop leaders here.

I'll be dropping in on the workshop groups to check on their progress over the next few days, and will report on the end results on Thursday's "show" (with Tweet commentary on twitter.com/eltoncane)
